The season begins with a group of children (often called "chufos" by fans) having escaped from a sinister orphanage called "El Hogar de las Sombras" (The House of Shadows). Following the death of two characters, Ana and Juan, in a plane crash, the children are adrift for three months. They read about a magical place called "Rincón de Luz" in "The Book of Life" and set out to find it.
