If you are running Kerio Control as a virtual appliance (on VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM), changing the virtual network adapter settings can alter the virtual hardware UUID or MAC address. This changes the firewall's internal System ID, instantly invalidating your offline license.
: While trying to upload the offline license file directly, Kerio Control refuses it with the error: "License is not for this hardware".
The license file must be stored on a local computer that can access the Kerio Control Administration interface.
Open the Kerio Control administration interface in your browser (default IP is typically 10.10.10.1 ).
The portal validates that the request matches a valid entitlement in your account. It then bakes the license details (user count, subscription expiry, modules like VPN or Web Filter) into a file specifically signed for your hardware ID.
Online activation is the default and most seamless method if your Kerio Control appliance has a direct path to the internet. It allows the registration wizard to contact the licensing server directly to validate and apply your license.
While offline activation is generally reliable, administrators frequently encounter a few common hurdles. "Invalid OS ID" Error
