Interestingly, the cameo was the result of a spontaneous decision by Salman. At the time, Riteish and his team were shooting Lai Bhaari at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, while Salman was nearby shooting for his film Jai Ho . Salman visited the sets and reportedly told director Nishikant Kamat, "I want to act in this film, you figure out something". Recalling the incident, Riteish later revealed that he hadn't even approached Salman for the film; it was the superstar who insisted on being a part of it.
